HoboEye Art:
Chris Dacre, Tucson, AZ

When I first learned that there are no limits to what you can do in art, a sense of excitement ran through me. This was a valuable piece of information that took me some time to realize, but after I did I set about to see how far I could push it. What could I create that I have never seen done before? This was the goal that I set for myself and I continually try to reinvent how I do this every time I sit down to work.

I make art so that I can document the issues that are important to me, which include political, environmental, and religious. I tend to pick out the absurdities of these issues and try to visually represent them in the best way I see fit, which is usually done with cynicism, sarcasm and humor. I want to visually construct my take on these issues by giving a different perspective on something you, the viewer, are already familiar with, often times in a bright and colorful way. ChildrenÌs imagery, elementary text books and old encyclopediaÌs are something that I continually use as references because I find them visually appealing.

Spontaneity and experimentation play key roles in my creative process and I have learned not to second guess what happens. If I am collaging and I see two images that should go together then thatÌs what is supposed to happen. If something doesnÌt work out like I thought it would then I will work right over top of it, this helps me to create a sense of depth and layering that I find intriguing.

I am formally trained as a printmaker. However I am continually drawn to other mediums, painting, illustration, collage, digital photography and installation and I continually experiment with combining these mediums together in a way that expresses what I am trying to say in the best way possible.
