HoboEye Art:
Bill Zindel, San Francisco, CA, USA

Artist statement:

My work has always involved found imagery and has in recent years shifted from printmaking and painting to collage. I am an obsessive collector of fodder from old magazines and ephemera. Tiny details, pattern, typography, and nostalgia are what interest me. My work as a designer informs my work formally, but my love of cutting, pasting, and collecting goes back to childhood.

While attempting to make sense of the stacks of paper I have amassed, I am motivated by the frictions and harmonies that occur when disparate elements – beautiful or dull, suggestive or meaningless – rub up against each other to make something new.

Bill Zindel works as a graphic designer and has shown his work in San Francisco, New York, Detroit, Nashville, Omaha, and the Philippines.
